Yesterday afternoon IPSS Medical Rescue received multiple calls for a Taxi accident, on the N2 near Dokodweni. Upon arrival Paramedics found a taxi on its side, still actively burning.
Locals from a near-by settlement had rushed to the accident scene to assist in freeing passengers from the burning wreck.
Despite efforts, one person was entrapped in the taxi and tragically burnt to death.
According to eye-witnesses, the taxi was traveling North-bound when another vehicle came across into their lane.
The taxi driver swerved to avoid the vehicle when he lost control, colliding head on with a VW Amrok in the south bound lane.
The taxi ignited on impact and became engulfed, despite the wet weather.
