Springs woman and son (8) escape robbery through window, husband shot

The 33-year-old woman woke to the sound of a window breaking and went to see what is happening.

When she moved the curtain, she saw a suspect pointing a firearm at her.

Captain Johannes Ramphora, spokesperson for the Springs police says the woman then ran to her eight-year-old son’s bedroom where she found another suspect gaining entry and who also pointed a firearm at her.

“The woman then ran with her son to another bedroom where her husband helped them escape through a window to call for help,” he says.

While they were running to the neighbour’s house to get help, she heard three gunshots and a few minutes later her husband came out of the same window they used for an escape and fell down.

One of the neighbours rushed the man to the Netcare N17 Hospital.

He was shot in the pelvis.

The suspects gained entry through breaking the palisades and bedroom window.

They stole a plasma TV and computer screen.

A case of house robbery was opened at the Springs Police Station.
