20 Aug 2017, Kwa-Zulu Natal: UPDATE – 19 People sadly died. Eighteen people have tragically lost their lives in a crash involving a minibus which has crashed off a bridge and about 15m down an embankment in the Msunduzi area in the EThekwini district in KZN.
Paramedics from the KZN Department of Health’s Emergency Medical Services and paramedics from several private ambulance services have treated 12 patients from the crash, who have sustained critical and serious injuries.
The injured were treated at the scene of the crash and at the nearby Msunduzi clinic, where some patients had been rushed to, by bystanders, just after the crash.
The injured patients have been transported to hospitals in the Durban and Pietermaritzburg areas for continued medical care.
The police are at the scene and have started to investigate the exact cause of the crash which is not known at this stage.
