Body parts harvested from graves: You know many South Africans have little regard and respect for most things, it’s easy for them to desecrate structures erected for learning and other infrastructures put in place to make life easy. What you’ve never imagined is them treating sacrilegiously, those who are no longer with us.
Graves are being desecrated, body parts of the buried remains of our loved ones are being harvested and sold to traditional healers. This despicable dishonour of the dead was revealed during a tribal meeting at Tshitavha, outside Thohoyandou, Limpopo.
Hawks Finds Panties And Pubic Hairs In Mutilator’s House It is said that a 17-year-old girl during the meeting, confessed that her ex-husband has been earning a living by harvesting body parts from graves.
According to her, the husband would desecrate graves to harvest the body parts. Subsequently, the body parts harvested from these grave will be sold off to local traditional healers. Confirming this incident, police spokesperson, Motlafela Mojapelo told SABC that an inquiry has been launched on the issue.
Mojapelo reportedly said: “We have received this particular allegations and as the police, we have opened an inquiry … the necessary applications were made for the exhumation process to be embarked upon. “Immediately after that process has been concluded we will then determine whether the case should be opened or not.” Mojapelo affirmed that the police wouldn’t hesitate to open violation of graves case once it’s confirmed that the graves were desecrated and body parts harvested.
BuzzSouthAfrica gathered that the family members of two men whose grave were allegedly desecrated welcomed the police move to exhume the bodies of their late relatives. “…We are concerned and we want to know if the body parts were removed or not. Police must exhume so that we can also find closure,” commented one of the family members.
